Can I Get a Mortgage for a Log Cabin?
Traditional mortgages are typically designed for brick-and-mortar homes, which can make securing a standard mortgage for a log home more challenging. However, there are specialist lenders who provide self-build mortgages, holiday home finance, or mobile home financing for log cabins that meet certain criteria. If your cabin qualifies under the Caravan Act, alternative financing options may be available.
Alternative Finance Options
If a standard mortgage isn’t an option, there are several alternative ways to finance your log home:
Self-Build Mortgages – Available for log homes built on owned land with planning permission. Funds are typically released in stages as the build progresses.
Secured Loans – If you own a property, you may be able to take out a loan secured against your existing home.

Finance for Mobile Log Cabins
If your log cabin is classified as a mobile home under the Caravan Act, financing may be available through lenders who specialize in park homes and static caravans. These loans often require a lower deposit and have different eligibility criteria than traditional mortgages.
