Where does Timberspecs source its timber from?

We source all of our timber from well-managed forests in the Carpathian Mountains of Romania. The timber is harvested from mature trees, ensuring the preservation of ancient forests and the sustainability of our supply.

How do you ensure the timber is sustainably sourced?

We work closely with partners who are fully committed to preventing illegal logging. All timber is harvested in line with Natura 2000 regulations and includes the following documentation:

• Harvesting Certificate
• Harvesting Permit
• Volume Estimation Document (APV)
• Environmental Permit
• Approval from the National Park Administration

What efforts are made to protect Romania’s forests?

Over the last year, we’ve made significant changes to prevent illegal logging and ensure sustainable forestry practices. Our Replacement Tree Program is carefully managed to guarantee a continuous supply of timber while minimizing the environmental impact.

How do your cabins support ecological sustainability?

Each structure we build is unique in design, but every material used is sustainably sourced. Our core principle is to be ecologically sensitive, and all our cabins conform to BS3632 standards, ensuring a low carbon footprint.

How do you minimise the environmental impact during construction?

We prioritize minimal ground disturbance during installation. Instead of using traditional concrete, we opt for recycled brick dust, jack pads, and ground screws—all of which are removable and leave no trace on the land.

How energy-efficient are Timberspecs cabins?

Our cabins are built with thermal insulation and double-glazing as standard, significantly reducing heat loss and maintaining a consistent indoor temperature. Most owners find that a small log burner is sufficient for heating, reducing energy consumption.

Are Timberspecs cabins more eco-friendly than other mobile homes?

Yes! Our cabins, built in line with the UK Mobile Home Act, offer a more sustainable alternative to traditional mobile homes made from metal and plastic. Not only are they superior in eco-credentials, but they also offer a more aesthetically pleasing design.
